Admission
Tartu International School admits students to Year 1 to 9 throughout an academic year.
The children are admitted to Year 1 when they are 6 years old.
For admission to all year levels the following documents are needed:
- The Registration Form to TIS.
- A written application to the Head Teacher.
- A copy of the child´s birth certificate.
- Child´s records in English from the previous school or childcare institution (report card, health records).
All documets should be sent electronically to the school´s e-mail address istartu@gmail.com;
sent via snail mail (Veski 1, Tartu 51005); or brought to school after family´s arrival in Tartu.
If possible, an individual meeting between the family and the school is established by the Head
Teacher before the start of an academic year. During this meeting the philosophy, curriculum and
daily operation of the school are introduced, and any other matters discussed.
Level Placement of the New Students
Every effort is made in order to find the best match between the student´s skills and knowledge and
the programme. The initial year level placement of a student is based on the documents submitted to
the school by the parents, and the meeting between the family and the school.
A three-week observation period shall be applied after admitting a student during which the
teachers, in close co-operation with the parents, evaluate the initial year level placement suitability
for an individual student. The year level placement of a student is approved by the Teachers´
Council generally within four weeks after admission.
Tuition Fees
Fee Structure for Academic Year 2012/2013
- Enrolment fee – 32,00 EUR. Payable upon enrolment, one-time and non-refundable.
- Tuition fee – 7500,00 EUR per academic year for all year levels.
Tuition includes the textbooks and workbooks, cost of local field trips, outdoor education fees and
tickets. It also covers classroom materials and daily lunch. Tuition fee does not cover hobby and
free-time activities organised by the school.
Payment Options
The full terms and conditions of payment are stated on the enrollment contract. When submitting a
contract, the parents choose one of the following payment options.
- One full payment: due 1 September 2012
- Two payments: 50% due 1 September 2012; balance due 1 February 2013.
- Ten monthly installments: 10% of tuition and fees due monthly from 1 September 2012 through 1 June 2013.
