History

Tartu International School was founded in April 2001 in response to a demand from the international community in Tartu.

The school offers education from Year 1 to Year 9 using Estonian National Curriculum. Throughout last academic years TIS has teached students from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, United States of America, Canada, Germany, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Romania. We have eight teachers of whom one is non-Estonian.

The school facilities consist of classrooms for school use, library and science lab, dining room and a fenced playground. Physical Education lessons take place in the Catholic School´s gym just across the street but also in the sports halls close to our school house. In co-operation with Tartu Catholic School student study Design and Technology in a modern and well-equipped arts studio in Jakobi street 41.
