A visit filled with odors.

Today we visited the waste water treatment “Tartu Veevärk” and we had the opportunity to take a look into the not-so-glamorous side of urban nature. The students were taken through all the steps of waste water management and given a rather detailed overview of the data of this. Needless to say that it was a challenge for the olfactory system but we learnt a lot and it was definitely one of those field trips that makes us see our influence on the surrounding environment.

What do you think – how much waste water does this waste water treatment plant process in 24 hours? 25 000 cubic meters. That’s a lot!
